Position Summary 
We are a growing practice, seeking a Senior Accountant to lead a small team of Accountants at our office in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Our ideal candidate will come from a reputable Accounting or Advisory Firm serving small to medium client base, both businesses and individual client base in Sri Lanka or for an overseas firm. Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the partners and prepare, review and audit Tax Statements, financial Statements and BAS statements and business tax returns (Individual/Trust/Company) by adhering to Australian Taxation and compliance for our clients
  • Work as a conduit to the Australian team to liaise with the team in Sri Lanka by maintaining strong lines of communication with key stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of the organisation at both locations
  • Providing analytical support to the Partners and key Clients in key project
  • Be the subject matter expert to Support the team in Sri Lanka with day-to-day challenges
  • Working closely with the Partners and Operations Manager to achieve organisational, team and personal milestones
  • Perform day to day bookkeeping in various Accounting Software
  • Positively contribute to and foster a safe and respectful workplace culture and environment where fellow team members can thrive 
  • While the principal duties of this position are as above, the post holder may be required to undertake other duties from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience

Academic & Certifications
  • Relevant tertiary or post-graduate qualifications, preferably encompassing one or more of business, finance, commerce or management related field highly regarded.
  • CA/CIMA/CPA qualified, studying or upon commencement
  • Xero Certification is mandatory (Payroll & Advisor) or willing to obtain one upon joining
  • MYOB & QuickBooks certifications are added advantage

Experience
  • 4 –5 years’ relevant experience as an Accountant within a similar role in a Big4, BPO or Accounting Practice
  • 3+ years’ Leadership experience in an Accounting role, preferably in a consulting/ client facing environment
  • Clearly follow tight deadlines by adhering to SPS SOPs
  • Adequate knowledge in Xero Workflowmax, Xero and CCH
  • Strong Communication and Presentation skills (Verbal & Written)Advanced MS Excel skills, including experience with Visual Basic preferred
  • Proven ability to quickly gain proficiency in extracting relevant data from another comparable warehouse/enterprise management system for analysis and reporting highly regarded
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365
  • Moderate understanding of Australian Taxation, Payroll and Superannuation systems

Mandatory Requirements
  • Sri Lankan Police Clearance Certificate obtained in the last 3 months
  • Two Professional Referees – one must be the current line manager 
  • Ability to travel to Australia once or twice/ year
